Omaha Metro Cooling Stations - Summer 2025
To prevent exposure to dangerous conditions, several of our community partners host cooling centers during our region’s hottest months. Each facility has its own requirements, services, and daily capacities so we recommend staying tuned to each organization’s social media channels for information and calling ahead to confirm Cooling Center availability.
Heartland Family Service - NE Peer Center
Even beyond extreme weather, the NE Peer Center is open to anyone who would like to engage in social activities with peers. Must be 19 or older. Animals welcome if they are leashed and under control by owner. Coffee, water, and snacks when available.

Serving adults 18+ with mental health concerns with behavioral health diagnosis, substance use, or housing instability. Offering water, coffee, technology access, peer support staff, and case management for those who qualify. Animals welcome when leashed and held by owner. Children not allowed.

Open Door Mission
Open to Men, Women, and Families. Lunch and dinner available to guests at 12:15pm & 6:15pm. Sack lunches and water available 24/7. All guests have access to partner agencies on site. Must complete intake if staying overnight. Transportation offered to downtown at 9:45am, 12pm, 4:30pm. Showers and laundry may be available.
