Omaha Metro Area Summer Lunch Programs - Summer 2026

Hunger and homelessness are unquestionably linked. According to the USDA Economic Research Service, about 10.5% of households have faced food insecurity, meaning they do not have reliable access to enough food. Feeding America reports that around 1 in 6 children deal with hunger, and families with kids are often more affected by homelessness. People without stable homes often cannot access regular meals, which can become a cycle that exacerbates both hunger and homelessness.

Many school districts in the Omaha Metro Area are currently offering free summer meal programs to ensure children have consistent access to food during the summer months.
